Leipzig Marathon, live.

Two laps through Leipzig, from the Sportforum to the Völkerschlachtdenkmal

The Leipzig Marathon is the city's spring road race, held for the 49th time on Sunday 18 April 2027 with four distances from one start area.

Everything starts and finishes Am Sportforum, next to the Red Bull Arena, and the Marathon Campus is at Jahnallee 59. The day opens with the 4 km at 09:10 and the 10 km at 09:30. The marathon starts at 10:00 and the half marathon follows at 12:45, so families and club mates can run different distances on the same morning.

The marathon is two laps of the half marathon course. It passes the Augustusplatz with the Gewandhaus, runs out to the Völkerschlachtdenkmal and comes back through the Clara-Zetkin-Park, before a finish straight of nearly 800 metres. The course is measured to AIMS and DLV standards and counts as a Boston qualifier, which makes it a sensible choice for a first marathon or a fast spring time.

The race has roots in a 40 km run in 1897 and has had its current form since 1977. In 2026 the organiser counted 1,677 marathon participants, 6,500 in the half marathon, 2,570 over 10 km and 902 over 4 km.

Spectators can see the field twice on the marathon lap, and the organiser describes the finish straight of nearly 800 metres as lined with thousands of spectators for more than half its length.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the Leipzig Marathon.
