Leeds runs 26.2 miles for Rob Burrow

The Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon starts and finishes at AMT Headingley Stadium and runs north of Leeds to Otley and back.

The Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon is on Sunday 9 May 2027, with the start at 09:00 at AMT Headingley Stadium. Former Leeds Rhinos player Rob Burrow was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in December 2019, and the race is held in support of the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease Appeal and the MND Association. The first edition brought more than 10,000 participants onto the streets of the city that launched his career.

The 26.2 mile route heads north from the stadium through Meanwood and around Golden Acre Park, then out to the historic towns of Bramhope and Otley. From there it comes back down Leeds Road towards Headingley for the finish at the stadium.

The organiser describes an electric atmosphere, with people coming to the city from all over to support the runners. Entrants must be 18 or older on race day, and Run For All welcomes people of all abilities, with support on request for specific needs.

Since Rob's passing, the marathon has become a tribute to the city that launched his career and the place he called home. Participants are encouraged to raise money for the MND appeal, the MND Association or a charity of their choice.
