The triathlon’s bike course, without the sea

The Laguna Phuket Duathlon runs on the same morning as the 32nd Laguna Phuket Triathlon and gives athletes what the organiser calls the race’s signature bike course, with a run in place of the swim.

The duathlon is on Sunday 15 November 2026 and starts at 06:45 from the start line at Laguna Grove, the resort area on Bang Tao Beach where the triathlon’s transition and finish are. The distances are 4 km run, 50 km bike and 12 km run, for men and women 18 and over. The 50 km bike is the triathlon’s, and the 12 km run, like the triathlon’s, comes back past transition after a first 6 km loop; the opening 4 km replaces the 1.8 km swim that the triathletes start at 06:37 on the beach.

That makes the timing tight. In 2025 the duathletes had to be back in transition from the first run by 07:50 and out on the bike by 07:55, the same bike-out cutoff the triathletes faced. Further cutoffs followed at Muang Thalang School at 20 km on the bike (09:20), back off the bike (10:30), after the first 6 km loop of the run (11:40) and at the finish (12:30). The 2025 booklet’s November average for Phuket was 27°C with 85% humidity.

Duathletes and triathletes share the bike course, so friends at Laguna Grove have two fields passing at once. An athlete can share a link to their own Livebib broadcast, which opens in a browser with no app and no account, showing the position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes. Anything estimated is marked as estimated; if the phone loses signal, the position is carried forward along the course. The athlete decides who gets the link.
