What the name means

Kullamannen is the lord of the mountain in the legends of Kullaberg: an immortal knight, rough but righteous, who sides with the weak and strikes down anyone who behaves badly on the mountain.

The 100-mile race was born at the Kullen Lighthouse, where the race team had gathered for a crayfish party one late-summer night in July. They left with a crazy dream: a 100-mile trail ultra that could draw runners from all over the world.

A year later 147 runners stood on the start line and 40 reached the finish. More than 600 now come every year, and finishing is still the exception: the organiser says more than 70 per cent do not make it to the coveted finisher ring. In 2019 the film producer Emil Sergel documented the race.
