Kilimanjaro International Marathon on Sunday 7 February 2027 in Moshi, Tanzania: full marathon, half marathon and 5 km fun run from MoCU Stadium.
MoCU Stadium, Moshi · February 7, 2027
Up toward the mountain first, then down into Moshi
The Kilimanjaro International Marathon marks its 25th year on Sunday 7 February 2027, with every race finishing in the MoCU Stadium in Moshi.
The race began as an idea of the organiser Wild Frontiers in 2002, and the first edition in 2003 drew a field of about 300 to 400. In 2025 it attracted some 12,000 entrants across its distances, from top East African athletes to families, schools and corporate groups, with up to 45 nationalities. The 2027 full marathon is an official Comrades qualifier.
The full marathon starts at 06:30 at the MoCU Stadium grounds and tackles the climb first, with about 290 m of altitude gain in the first 8 km toward the mountain, before coming back down. From about 19 km it breaks away from the half marathon route, past the Moshi Club and over the Old German Bridge, and the dirt road section from 19 to 39 km is graded and watered before the race. The organiser notes that the 2027 full marathon route is still to be confirmed.
The half marathon starts at 07:00 at the MoCU Gate on Sokoine Road and shares the same climb, with about 2 km of dirt road through farms and schools before the long downhill on Lema Road back to the stadium. The 5 km fun run starts at 07:30 on Uru Road below the stadium. The final cut-off for both the full and half marathon is 12:30.
With a hard climb early and stretches of dirt, this is a course for people who want the experience more than a fast time. Supporters will find the best atmosphere in the MoCU Stadium, where every race finishes.
On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, so the dot on the map is only as good as that phone and its signal. The official results and splits come from the organiser of the Kilimanjaro International Marathon.
