KAGASPA 20K

This is the only Kaga Spa race that does not start in town. A shuttle bus takes runners out to Kenmin no Mori, the prefectural forest that is also the drop-bag station of the 100K, and the course comes back to Yamanaka Onsen as a one-way line. That shows in the numbers: 649 metres of climbing against 875 metres of descent, so the 20K loses more height than it gains. On the way it passes two aid stations the longer races also use, Imadate Aios Square at km 6.4 and Tonoo at km 13.6, before the finish at Yamanaka-za.

The limit is six hours, to 14:00, and the organiser expects the first runner after about two hours. The minimum age is 16, lower than for the 50K and 100K, which makes it the race at Kaga Spa that a younger runner can enter. It runs on the Saturday morning, hours before the 100K starts at 18:30.
