A run with a view of the sea in Slovenian Istria

The Luka Koper Istrski maraton is a spring road race weekend on the Slovenian coast, with a host town that changes between the coastal municipalities.

The 2027 weekend is on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 April, and Izola is the main venue. The race moves along the coast from year to year: the 10th edition in 2024 was hosted by Piran, and the 12th in April 2026 by Koper, with the main venue on Ukmarjev trg.

The organiser lists routes of 10 km, 21 km and 42 km for 2027, along with Nordic walking and the Kapko children's runs. The marathon is the Luka Koper Marathon over 42.195 km, and the half marathon covers 21.098 km. The exact 2027 courses and start times have not been published yet, and with a new main venue they are likely to change from 2026.

The motto is a run with a view of the sea, and the routes follow the coast between the towns of Slovenian Istria. In 2024 the marathon went through Lucija, Portorož, Strunjan and Izola. The 10 km suits people who want a shorter race by the sea, and the children's runs make it a family weekend.

The main venue in 2027 is Izola, so that is where spectators should plan to be. Check the organiser's page for the 2027 course maps and the programme before travelling.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the Istrski maraton.
