Inverness Half Marathon, live.

Along the River Ness to a lap of Queen's Park

The Inverness Half Marathon is a 13.1 mile road race through the Highland capital that starts beside the River Ness and finishes with a lap of the track at Queen's Park Stadium.

The 2027 race starts at 10:30 on Sunday 14 March 2027 on Bught Road, and the Inverness 5K starts there at 09:30. The half will again host the Scottish Half Marathon Championships and the North District Championships. The event was established in 1985, 2027 is its 42nd edition, and around 3,600 people take part. It is organised by Caledonian Group Events.

The course crosses Ness Bridge with views of Inverness Castle and heads south towards Torbreck and Lochardil. After a steady climb in the early miles and gentle undulations in the middle, it returns towards the river for a mostly flat final stretch. There are water stations at 3, 6, 9 and 11.5 miles, a HIGH5 gel station and water at the finish.

Participants must be 17 or over. UK entrants receive their pack in the post in late February, and overseas entrants collect theirs at the event village in Bught Park on race morning. The official cut-off is 3 hours 30 minutes, and only bone conduction headphones are allowed. There is no wheelchair category in the half, but wheelchair users are welcome in the 5K.

Spectators get good views in the final miles through the city and at the event village in Bught Park. Infirmary Bridge is closed to pedestrians and cyclists during the race, and parking near Inverness Leisure is very busy.

On Livebib you can follow a participant live when they choose to share the position of the phone they carry. That position comes from the participant's own phone and is not the organiser's timing, so official results and splits come from the organiser.
