A certified five around Varbergaskogen

A 5 km race in Örebro on a course laid out to be run fast, with a measurement certificate that makes the time count.

Hostruset was run on Sunday 4 October 2026, starting and finishing at Björkhagaskolan on Frimärksgatan in Örebro. The course follows cycle paths around the Varbergaskogen woods, and the organiser describes it as fast. It was certified by the Swedish Athletics Federation’s course measurer, Bertil Sundin, on 8 September 2024; the race is sanctioned by the federation and is part of the Södra Svealands Löparserie. Changing rooms and showers are in the school, but parking there is very limited, so the organiser asks runners to park at Karlslunds motionscentral, share a car or come by bike.

The day opens at 11:30 with a 700-metre children’s race for ages three to seven, untimed. The 5 km starts at 12:30, with classes for men, women, PF19, veterans 50+ and a recreational class. Timing is by ankle transponder, the recreational class included. The course records the organiser publishes are 14:41 for men, set in 2019, and 16:42 for women, set in 2022, and the results archive goes back to 2008.

Five kilometres is over in a quarter of an hour for the fastest and in half an hour for most, which makes it easy to miss for someone waiting at the school.
