Walk, jog or run around Hornsjön

Hornsjön Runt is a trail race and walk around the lake Hornsjön near Högby in northern Öland, organised by Högby IF.

Hornsjön Runt is a race around Hornsjön, which the organiser Högby IF describes as the only inland lake on Öland. Its motto is walk, jog or run, and there is also a hiking class without timing. Everyone who completes the course receives a medal, and prizes go to the top three in every class.

The organiser describes varied Öland nature along the way. The ground ranges from gravel roads with Öland limestone underfoot to grass, cow pastures, deciduous woodland, pine forest and sand dunes. There are three drink stations along the course as well as one at the start and finish.

The main race is 11 km, with a 5.5 km Motion class. The hiking class covers 5.5 or 11 km. Children and young people race over 700 m, 1.5 km and 2.9 km, and the classes for 11 years and younger have no timing or prize giving.

The race takes place on 24 July 2027, with start and finish at Pensionat Hornsjön. The youth classes start first, from 15:30, followed by the 11 km at 17:00 and the 5.5 km at 17:05. Hikers can start any time between 13:00 and 16:00. Showers and changing rooms are at Högby Idrottsplats, just north of Högby church. A participant can choose to share their own live position on Livebib from their phone, so friends and family can follow along. This is not the organiser's timing, and official results come from Högby IF.
