Finland's oldest marathon, into the Olympic Stadium

Helsinki City Run is a spring running weekend on 7 and 8 May 2027, built around Finland's largest and oldest marathon.

The Saucony Helsinki City Marathon was first held in 1981, and the 2027 race is its 47th edition. The organiser calls it Finland's largest and oldest marathon. It is the centre of the Helsinki City Run weekend, which also offers a half marathon, a marathon relay, a 5 km and a Minimarathon for families, with the finish at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium.

The marathon and the OP Uusimaa Helsinki City Half are run on Saturday 8 May 2027. Both start on Mäntymäentie next to the Paavo Nurmi statue on the southern square of the Olympic Stadium and finish inside the stadium. The route heads out along Mannerheimintie and mixes seaside, park and city centre scenery. Helsinki City Double combines the half marathon and the marathon for those who want both.

The Helsinki City Marathon Relay splits the distance into four legs of 14, 7, 13 and 8 km, so a team of four can share the marathon. On Friday 7 May the Saucony Helsinki City 5 starts on Mäntymäentie at 20:00, run or walked on a fast route toward the Olympic Stadium, and the Minimarathon for children opens the weekend on Friday afternoon.

The organiser calls Helsinki City Run the largest running event in Finland, with 24,000 runners from 110 nations, and says there is something for everyone. The half marathon has five refreshment stations along the route and is an AIMS certified race.
