The Cleveland Way in one push, Helmsley to Filey

The Hardmoors 110 follows the whole Cleveland Way National Trail around the North York Moors and the coast, and the Hardmoors 160 adds the Tabular Hills.

The 20th Hardmoors 110 starts at 08:00 on Saturday 22 May 2027 in Helmsley. To mark the 20th edition, the 2027 route returns for one year only to its original direction, from Helmsley to Filey. Runners have 36 hours for 110 miles with about 5,000 m of ascent on the Cleveland Way.

From Helmsley the route crosses the Cleveland Hills and the North York Moors to reach the coast at Saltburn, then follows the Cleveland Heritage coast through Runswick Bay, Staithes, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay, on past Ravenscar, Hayburn Wyke and Scarborough to the finish in Filey. Checkpoints include the White Horse car park, Square Corner, Clay Bank, Kildale Village Hall, Roseberry Topping, Saltburn, Runswick Bay, Ravenscar Village Hall and Scarborough. Support crews are not allowed at some of them.

The 9th Hardmoors 160, The Ring of Steele, starts at 18:00 on Friday 21 May 2027 at Scalby. It heads west on the Tabular Hills route to Helmsley and then follows the full Hardmoors 110 route to Filey, 160 miles with over 6,700 m of ascent and a 50 hour limit.

These are long single stage races on moorland and cliff paths, and to enter the 160 runners must have completed a single stage race or challenge of at least 60 trail miles. Both races finish in Filey, at the Evron Centre.
