hella hamburg halbmarathon, live.

From the Reeperbahn past the harbour and the Alster to the Messe

The hella hamburg halbmarathon returns to its summer date on Sunday 27 June 2027, a 21.1 km tour from the Reeperbahn to the Hamburg Messe.

The start is on the Reeperbahn and the finish is at the Hamburg Messe. The organiser counts about 50 sights along the way, among them the Landungsbrücken, the Speicherstadt, the Wallring tunnel, the Kennedybrücke and the Außenalster. It is a single distance race over 21.1 km.

In 2026 the race moved to October because of the heat and set a record of 20,767 registrations. For 2027 it goes back to June, with the start moved into the cooler morning hours, seven refreshment stations and a shortcut halfway in case of high temperatures. The organiser calls it the second largest pure half marathon in Germany and the largest summer half marathon in Europe, with guests from more than 90 nations.

The organiser plans the route to fit as many sights as possible into the 21.1 km and asks runners to know their limits on a hot day. Plan for warm weather even with the early start.

The organiser speaks of 24,000 participants and more than 40 event points along the route, on average one every 500 metres, with DJs, live music, drums and percussion and shanty choirs to keep the runners moving.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the hella hamburg halbmarathon.
