East London's closed-road half marathon

The HOKA Hackney Half is a flat, closed-road half marathon through Hackney, at the heart of the Hackney Moves festival weekend.

The HOKA Hackney Half is on Sunday 16 May 2027. It is the centrepiece of the Hackney Moves weekend from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 May 2027 at Hackney Marshes, organised by Motiv Sports UK, which also includes a 5K, a trail race, a schools challenge and the Hackney Quarter. General entries for the 2027 half are sold out, so the way in now is through one of the charity partners.

The half marathon is run on closed roads through the borough, on a flat and flowing course that suits a first half marathon as well as a personal best attempt. There are aid stations along the route, pacers on course and chip-timed results, and live music and cheer zones line the streets.

The HOKA Hackney 10K opens the weekend at 7pm on Friday 14 May 2027. It starts in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park near Stratford and Hackney Wick station and runs on closed roads through the park as daylight fades.

The finish leads into an event village with food, drink, fitness sessions, talks and music, so spectators have plenty to do while they wait. The organiser calls it the perfect post-race reward, and the weekend as a whole is billed as a full weekend of fitness, food and live acts.
