Great Limerick Run, live.

Marathon, half and 6 mile through Limerick

The Great Limerick Run offers a marathon, a half marathon and a 6 mile race through the city, all finishing together on O'Connell Street.

The Regeneron Great Limerick Run is on Sunday 2 May 2027, with the Kids Fun Run at the University of Limerick on Saturday 1 May 2027. More than 16,000 people entered in 2025, and the organiser calls it the fastest growing participatory event in Ireland.

The marathon is 42.2 km on a flat route that starts in Pery Square, runs through the city streets and along the River Shannon, and heads out towards the suburbs. It passes through the University of Limerick and its sports facilities and by Thomond Stadium before returning to the city centre for the finish on O'Connell Street. The half marathon is 21.1 km on closed streets, with its start in Pery Square at 10:30 am, and the 6 mile race covers 9.7 km. All three join for the final stretch.

With three distances and a marathon relay, the event suits everyone from competitive athletes to occasional runners and walkers. More than 11,000 people share the closing stretch through the city.

All three races finish on O'Connell Street, which the organiser describes as surrounded by the cheers of spectators. Limerick was European City of Sport in 2011.

On Livebib you can follow a participant live when they choose to share the position of the phone they carry. That is their own position, not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the organiser.
