The Glasgow to Edinburgh Ultra, known as G2E, is a 57 mile point to point race from Glasgow to Edinburgh along rivers, cycle paths and canals.
The 2027 race starts at 06:00 on Saturday 9 October 2027 from the Riverside Museum in Glasgow, beside the Victorian tall ship Glenlee. Bibs can be collected the evening before, from 17:30 to 21:00, or on race morning from 04:15. The cut-off is 16 hours and there are 750 places. GB Ultras organises the race.
The route follows the River Kelvin, Sustrans Route 754, the Forth and Clyde Canal, the Union Canal and the Water of Leith into Edinburgh, and passes the Falkirk Wheel and the Antonine Wall on the way. With 231 m of ascent, the organiser describes it as flat and fast, a good chance of a personal best at the distance.
The route is well marked and supported at checkpoints, and the finish venue has separate changing rooms with showers. The top 200 finishers earn a gold medal, 201 to 400 a silver one and the rest bronze, and the race is part of the GB Ultras 50 Mile Slam and Grand Slam.
On the current course the records are 6 hours 17 minutes 46 seconds for men, set by Chris Richardson in 2025, and 7 hours 36 minutes 15 seconds for women, set by Alice Baird in 2026. GB Ultras tracks every runner live with GB Race Tracker.
Livebib lets family and friends follow a participant live if that person chooses to share the position of the phone they carry. It is not the organiser's timing system, and official results always come from the organiser.
