Årefjällen
One hundred kilometres across the Årefjällen, from Fångåmon over Ottfjället down to Ottsjö — the long day of a whole week of mountain racing, followed live.
The 100K leaves Fångåmon at five in the morning and crosses the fells to Ottsjö: 100 kilometres and 3,300 metres of climbing, over Ottfjället, whose Östertoppen stands at 1,265 m. It is the long day of the week — the one that starts in the dark and, for most of the field, ends long after the shorter races have packed up.
It is not the only one. Six races run between 26 July and 1 August, from a seven-kilometre evening loop at Ottsjö to the Vertical K, which climbs a thousand metres in five kilometres from the square in Åre to the summit of Åreskutan. The 45-kilometre race is the oldest of them, in its twenty-second edition and on a new line over Ottfjället; the 27K comes over three fells from Trillevallen before dropping to the lake.
On Livebib a day like that becomes a live page: the course on the map, the runner's position as a green beacon, the climbing already behind them and the aid stations ahead — with a real-time estimate of when each one will be reached. Family and friends open a single link and follow the whole way to Ottsjö.
