FIONIA Long Distance Triathlon, live.

A full distance across Funen, from Nyborg to Odense

FIONIA Long Distance Triathlon is the new Danish full distance triathlon from Triatlon Danmark, raced from Nyborg to Odense on Sunday 5 September 2027.

Fionia is the Latin name for Funen, and the race is built around crossing the island from east to west. Triatlon Danmark created it as a Danish answer to international long distance races that often sell out early, with a focus on clear information, safety and fair conditions. The debut was moved to 2027 to give the race the best possible start, and for age group athletes it is an open Danish championship.

The 3.8 km swim starts from the beach off Nyborg and passes the hotels Sinatur Hotel Storebælt, Nyborg Strand and Hesselet before returning to transition at Sinatur Hotel Storebælt. The 180 km bike runs through the Funen landscape on a loop of about 50 km ridden twice, then turns off on the third lap towards Odense, with several aid stations. Transition two is at the athletics stadium in Odense, and the 42.2 km run covers five laps of about 8 km through and around the city, passing the finish area four times before the finish on the stadium.

The race suits Danish and international triathletes aiming to complete a full distance or to race it hard, and it can also be done as a relay team. The overall cut-off is 15 hours and 45 minutes, and wetsuits are allowed when the water is between 16 and 22 degrees. Registration and bike check-in are in Nyborg on Saturday 4 September 2027.

Spectators in Odense get the best view, since the run loops pass the finish area again and again.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry during the race. That is the athlete's own sharing and not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the organiser.
