Monna Lisa

The organiser gives 31.5 kilometres and 1,210 metres of climb for 750 runners in the short-trail category, and describes a race within everyone’s reach by its distance but technical enough to spice up the outing on the Causse Noir. Full aid is at Betpaumes and Lauglanou, and the single barrier is at Lauglanou, km 22.9, by 14:30.

Finishers receive a dated medal and a Causses buffet in a traditional barn. Bibs are collected at the Salon du Trail on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 October, from 12:00 to 19:00.

The Monna Lisa starts and finishes in Millau, and spends the hours between on the Causse Noir. A runner who shares their Livebib broadcast lets family follow the climb from Carbassas, the corniches of the Dourbie and the last stretch over the Pouncho d’Agast, with the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes, in a browser with no app.

Monna Lisa

What the name means
Named after the village of Le Monna, above which the course plunges toward the Dourbie on a narrow, rocky path.

Carbassas is the way onto the Causse Noir, by a climb local trail runners know well, to the Croix de Paulhe and a wide view over the Tarn valley and the villages of Compeyre, Paulhe, Rivière and Boyne. Sandy tracks and forest rides then lead to the corniches of the Dourbie, and a narrow, rocky path with many roots drops above the village of Le Monna.

The course passes not far from the Grotte Rouge with the cliffs of the Boffi behind, then finishes along the corniche, a balcony above the cliffs, to the antenna of the Pouncho d’Agast, which the organiser calls the mythical summit of the Templiers, before plunging to Millau through the Grotte du Hibou.
