The organiser gives 80 kilometres and 3,497 metres of climb for 2,500 runners, starting from the Domaine de Saint-Estève on the road to Paulhe. The first aid station, a light one, is at Peyreleau above the Tarn valley around kilometre 20, where crew assistance is not allowed. Full aid follows at Saint-André-de-Vézines, La Salvage and the farm of Le Cade, with water at La Roque-Sainte-Marguerite and at Mas de Bru and Massebiau.
Five time barriers shape the day: Peyreleau at km 22.8 by 09:30, Saint-André at km 36.3 by 12:05, La Salvage at km 55.4 by 16:35, Mas de Bru at km 64 by 18:25 and Massebiau at km 69.8 by 19:30. Prize money is equal for men and women, 10,000 euros for the winner, and every finisher receives a HOKA gilet, a dated medal and a plate of aligot at the finish. Bibs are collected at the Salon du Trail on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October.
Following someone through this is a long day for the people at home: a night start, three plateaus and three valleys, and barriers that run until 19:30 at Massebiau. A runner who shares their Livebib broadcast gives family a link that opens in any browser, with the position on the course, the kilometres behind them and a finish estimate for Millau that moves with their pace. The official passages remain the organiser’s, on LiveTrail.

Grand Trail des Templiers
- First run
- 1995
The first Grand Trail des Templiers was run in 1995. Patrick Renard won it, and the finish was a small square in Sainte-Eulalie-de-Cernon facing the Templar commandery. The organiser’s thirtieth-anniversary series names the runners who shaped it since: Karine Herry with nine wins, Corinne Favre as the first woman to win, Thomas Lorblanchet with four.
The course starts gently along the road to Paulhe, climbs past Mas de Trauque and up the steep, wide Carbassas hill onto the Causse Noir, where the organiser promises the sight of 2,500 head torches snaking through the night. Forest tracks lead by Betpaumes, Le Sonnac and La Tour to the first singletrack and the descent to Peyreleau above the Tarn. The Jonte leads to the hermitage of Saint-Michel, the chapel of Saint-Jean-des-Balmes and Saint-André-de-Vézines; then south to Montméjean, the cliffs of the Rajol and the arch of Roquesaltes, and up onto the Larzac along the corniches of the Pompidou. The Dourbie comes by the cliffs of La Clapade and the Roubelier descent to Massebiau, and the last climb takes the Faux Monnayeur up the rocky nose of the Pouncho d’Agast before the Grotte du Hibou and the arch the organiser calls the arch of happiness and deliverance.
