Dourbie Formi

The organiser keeps it minimal on purpose: 23 kilometres and 1,229 metres of climb, a single aid station at Massebiau, and only 350 bibs. Two barriers apply, at Mas de Bru (km 8.4) by 09:00 and at Massebiau (km 17.7) by 11:10, and by Mas de Bru, after 8.5 kilometres, the course has already climbed 550 metres.

Finishers receive a dated medal and a Causses buffet in a traditional barn, and bibs are collected at the Salon du Trail on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 October. The start sits in the place where sigillata pottery was made for the whole Roman Empire, and the finish is back in Millau.

With one aid station in 23 kilometres there are few places for supporters to wait. A runner who shares their Livebib broadcast lets family follow the climb to Mas de Bru, the run along the Dourbie and the descent from the Pouncho, with the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as they go. Official times stay with the organiser’s timing on LiveTrail.

This distance

Dourbie Formi

The Dourbie Formi starts inside the archaeological site of La Graufesenque, a centre of the sigillata pottery traded across the Roman Empire. It opens with 3.6 km of rolling flat on the left bank, 80 metres up, before the Roubelier climb to Mas de Bru after 8.5 km and 550 metres of climb, then the Gazel ravine toward the cliffs of La Clapade and the bottom of the Laumet ravine, with a view over the gorges.

The organiser says the race lives up to its name on the long, easy stretch along the river that follows, before the second climb onto the Larzac and a very technical descent, only 1.1 km for 400 metres down. Runners catch their breath crossing Massebiau, then go straight up again by the Rocher Troué and the Faux Monnayeur, and past the corniche of the Pouncho simply let themselves glide down to the finish.
