Boffi Fifty

The organiser gives 46.5 kilometres and 2,005 metres of climb for 700 runners, and is blunt about it: a race that ends up very technical and very rustic, with a low average speed, that demands a good physical level. It is meant as an intermediate distance, a test before moving up to the Intégrale or the Templiers. Full aid is at Betpaumes, Lauglanou and the farm of Le Cade, with a water point at km 36, and time barriers stand at Lauglanou, at the Monna ravine and at Le Cade.

Finishers receive a HOKA gilet, a dated medal and a Causses buffet in a traditional barn. Bibs are collected at the Salon du Trail on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 October.

Under the cliffs of the Boffi, the organiser warns, the course barely runs, so the morning’s pace says little about the afternoon. A runner who shares their Livebib broadcast gives family the position along the course, the distance done and a finish estimate for Millau that keeps updating as the race goes, in a browser with no account and no app.

Boffi Fifty

The Boffi Fifty follows the Marathon des Causses and adds a very technical, very wild loop under the great cliffs of the Boffi. After 2 km of road to the hamlet of Carbassas comes a hard climb onto the Causse Noir, a crossing north to the Roc Pointu and its technical descent to the village of La Cresse, and a climb back up a deep valley through narrow rocky passages. Sandy forest tracks on the plateau then let runners lengthen their stride.

After Lauglanou the course heads for Longuiers and the cliffs of the Boffi above the gorges of the Dourbie, where the organiser says the world changes: mineral, wild, constantly under the cliffs, running little and slowly. The descent of the Monna ravine, the climb to the farm of Le Cade and the classic finish by the Pouncho d’Agast and its great rocky collar close it out.
