Norberg · February 7, 2027

Classic skiing from the square in Norberg since 1969

Engelbrektsloppet is a classic technique ski race week in Norberg in Västmanland, with the 45 km on 7 February, the 30 km on 13 February and the 60 km on 14 February 2027.

The first Engelbrektsloppet was skied in 1969, started by local enthusiasts to raise money for the local elite skiers in Norberg, and women have taken part since 1970. It is named after Engelbrekt Engelbrektsson, the 15th century freedom fighter from the area. The race is run by Föreningen Engelbrektsloppet, and the surplus goes back to the local clubs whose volunteers work at the event.

Every race starts, laps and finishes on Torget, the square in the middle of Norberg. The original course is 30 km of varied skiing, with flat double poling stretches through several lake areas, small hilly sections through the forest and two bigger climbs. All three races are classic technique, and Engelbrektsloppet has been part of En Svensk Klassiker since 1976.

The 30 km on Saturday 13 February and the 45 km on Sunday 7 February both start at 10:00. The main race, the 60 km on Sunday 14 February, starts at 10:00, with the elite women at 09:45. The 30 km is recreational only and open from age 11, for those who want the atmosphere on the track without the race stress, while the 60 km is the organiser's longest ski race, for those who like a real challenge.

Because the course comes back through the square, spectators on Torget see the field more than once without moving. Norberg is a small community of about 6,000 people, around 160 km from Stockholm, and the organiser offers bus packages from Stockholm and Uppsala. Snow making has become essential to the event in recent winters, so check the organiser's updates on track conditions in the weeks before.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry during the race. This is a separate service and not the organiser's timing. Official times and results come from Engelbrektsloppet.
