Past the Semperoper and along the Elbe to the Heinz-Steyer-Stadion

The Dresden-Marathon holds its 27th edition on Sunday 31 October 2027, with a route through the old town and along the Elbe.

The start is on the Ostra-Allee and the finish is inside the Heinz-Steyer-Stadion. There are four races on the day: the marathon over 42.195 km, the ERTL-Marathonstaffel for teams of four on the same course, the half marathon over 21.1 km and the AOK 10 km run.

The course takes in the Altstadt with the Semperoper and the Brühlsche Terrasse, crosses the river at the Waldschlößchen bridge and runs through the Großer Garten and Blasewitz. Relay legs vary from about 6 to 14 km, so a team can share the distance by form. More than 300 musicians and bands play along the route.

The course records are 2:10:00 for men, set by Ezekiel Koech in 2019, and 2:30:30 for women, set by Teclah Chebet in 2022. In 2025 the organiser counted 2,084 marathon finishers, 6,168 in the half marathon, 2,001 over 10 km and 151 relay teams.

The finish comes after half a lap of the track inside the Heinz-Steyer-Stadion, where the organiser promises the applause of a large crowd. On the way back into the old town the route runs right below the Brühlsche Terrasse and past the Semperoper.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the Dresden-Marathon.
