The long distance season opens in Orsa Grönklitt

Craft Ski Marathon is a classic technique ski race at Orsa Grönklitt in Dalarna on Sunday 10 January 2027, with a 42 km marathon and a 21 km half marathon.

For many years this race has opened the Swedish long distance winter, and it is the first round of The Originals, the cup run by Svenska Långlopp. Svenska Långlopp organises it together with Sågmyra SK. It is also an official seeding race for Vasaloppet and Tjejvasan, which makes it a natural early goal for anyone hoping to move up a start group in March.

Both distances are a mass start in classic technique on the tracks around Orsa Grönklitt. The marathon is two laps of the course, 42 km in all, and the half marathon is one lap of 21 km. The elite women start at 10:50, the elite men and the competition classes at 11:00, and the recreational classes at 11:10. Competition classes are split by age, and the 42 km recreational class has an age limit of 17.

The 21 km suits skiers who want a first taste of a mass start or an early season test, while the 42 km is a proper long distance day for those who have skied since the first snow. Because the course is a lap, start and finish are in the same place, which keeps the logistics simple.

The weekend begins on Saturday 9 January with a ski expo at the stadium from 09:00 to 15:00 and bib collection at Mötestorget from 15:00 to 19:00. On race morning bibs are handed out from 08:00 and the start pens open at 09:00. Prize giving is at 14:00. In the marathon there is a drink station at the lap, and a sprint prize of 1,000 SEK goes to the first woman and the first man to reach it.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry during the race. This is a separate service and not the organiser's timing. Official times and results come from Craft Ski Marathon.
