One 50 mile loop through the Chilterns

The Chiltern Wonderland 50 is Centurion Running's single 50 mile trail loop through the Chiltern Hills, starting and finishing in Goring-on-Thames.

The 2027 race starts at 08:30 on Saturday 18 September 2027. Registration, the start, the finish and race HQ are all at Goring Village Hall on the High Street in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. Participants have 13 hours, there are further cut-offs at the aid stations, and up to 250 people start.

The course is 50 miles (81 km) with 5,600 ft (about 1,700 m) of climb and the same again in descent, around 80% trail and 20% road. It opens on the hilliest stretch of the Thames Path to Whitchurch, joins the Chiltern Way to Mapledurham and runs on to Sonning Common before heading deeper into the hills. The route is fully marked with Centurion ribbons and arrows, so no navigation is needed, and trail shoes are advised.

Five aid stations carry drinks, gels, sandwiches, fruit and savoury snacks, and hot food and drink are free to all runners at the finish. Pacers and crews are not allowed. To enter, a participant needs a marathon finished within that race's cut-off between 1 January 2022 and race day. The race is one of the four events in Centurion's 50 mile Grand Slam.

Spectators are welcome, but only at the locations Centurion lists for supporters. Finish line bags can be left at registration and are waiting at the end, because the loop brings everyone back to Goring.
