Challenge Kaiserwinkl-Walchsee, live.

A triathlon festival in the Austrian Alps

Challenge Kaiserwinkl-Walchsee is a triathlon on and around Lake Walchsee in Tyrol on 27 June 2027, set against the Kaisergebirge in the heart of the Austrian Alps.

The race is part of Challenge Family and is known as a true triathlon festival for all, with warm Tyrolean hospitality, a full side programme and a technical, honest course on closed mountain roads. The race director is Bastian Mensing, and Walchsee is about 100 km from Innsbruck, Munich and Salzburg.

The main race is the 100 distance: 2 km of swimming in Lake Walchsee, whose water is of drinking quality, 80 km on the bike and 18 km of running. The bike course rolls through the Tyrolean countryside with real climbing on closed mountain roads. The run is an undulating loop around the lake past farmhouses, fields and meadows with the Kaiser massif behind.

This is a race for athletes who want a scenic, demanding course as much as a time, and many make it a race holiday. Alongside the triathlon there is an aqua bike, a fun run and kids races, so the whole family can take part. Accommodation ranges from a lakeside campsite and farmhouses to five star hotels, and the organisers advise booking early.

The organisers name the best spots for spectators: the swim start, Walchsee centre on the bike course, the transition area where athletes change from swim to bike and from bike to run, and the finish area and run course, where most of the action happens.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry during the race. That is the athlete's own sharing and not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the organiser.
