A seaside marathon from Preston Park to Hove Lawns

The Brighton Marathon Weekend brings a marathon, a 10K and a family mile to Brighton and Hove on 3 and 4 April 2027.

The weekend was founded in 2010, along with a free children's event, and today the organiser expects up to 20,000 participants across three events. The Brighton Miles run on Saturday 3 April, and the Brighton Marathon and the Brighton & Hove 10K follow on Sunday 4 April.

The marathon starts in Preston Park with a flat opening before heading up Preston Park Avenue and through central Brighton, past London Road, The Level, St James's Street, the Theatre Royal and the Royal Pavilion. From around mile 7 the course follows the seafront along Marine Parade and Marine Drive to a U-turn at Ovingdean, passes Brighton Marina and comes back along Madeira Drive by Brighton Pier and the i360. The last miles run through Hove, along Church Road, Kingsway and the promenade past the beach huts, to the finish on Hove Lawns. The organiser gives 477 feet of elevation gain, and pacers cover finish times from 3:00 to 7:00 hours.

The Brighton & Hove 10K starts on Hove Lawns and has an elevation of only 57 feet, a road 10K by the sea. The Brighton Miles are a one mile course in Preston Park, open to all ages and abilities, to run, jog or walk.

The organiser promises streets packed with spectators at Aquarium Junction, and from mile 15 on Madeira Drive the course passes the Charity Cheer Avenue and the Brooks Cheer Zone. After the finish there is a free Beach Village to celebrate with family and friends, and a Park and Ride service.
