An evening run for blood donation in Umeå

Blodomloppet Umeå is an evening fun run in central Umeå, organised by IFK Umeå friidrott to draw attention to blood donation.

Blodomloppet is held in many towns across Sweden with the same purpose, to highlight the vital work of blood donors and encourage a healthy life. In Umeå the 2027 edition is on 24 May, and the organiser counted 7369 participants in 2026. People walk, jog or run, alone or with colleagues, friends and neighbours, and teams of five receive a picnic bag to share in Broparken afterwards.

Start and finish are at Skeppsbron. The 10 km and 5 km timed races are run on asphalt, with two drink stations on the 10 km course and one on the 5 km. The 5 km walk has no timing and follows asphalt and firm clay and gravel paths, and pushchairs, poles and dogs on a lead are welcome in the walking class.

Children up to 9 years can take on Lilla Blodomloppet over 900 metres, and older children up to 12 years have a timed course of about 3 km. In the preliminary programme Lilla Blodomloppet starts at 17.10, the walk at 18.00, the 10 km at 18.20 and the 5 km at 18.50, with prizes for the timed races at 19.20. Everyone who finishes receives a medal, and blood donors get a gift at the blood centre tent.

Friends and family can watch at Skeppsbron or follow from home. A person taking part can choose to share their own live position on Livebib from their phone. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the organiser.
