A long distance weekend on Billingen above Skövde

Billingens Långlopp is a weekend of cross country ski races at the new ski arena on Billingen in Skövde, from Friday 29 to Sunday 31 January 2027.

The event is organised by Svenska Långlopp and Billingens Skidallians and is part of The Originals, the Swedish long distance cup. It brings a classic long distance race to Västergötland, with start and finish at the ski arena on Billingen and changing rooms and showers right next to the start and finish area.

The weekend opens on Friday 29 January at 18:00 with Billingen Fifteen, a 15 km recreational race for women only, followed by an afterski at Hotell Billingehus. On Saturday 30 January the competition classes ski 40 km in a classic mass start, with the elite women starting at 09:50 and the elite men and all other competition classes at 10:00. Competition classes are split by age from 17 to 20 up to 60 and over.

Sunday 31 January belongs to the recreational classes, with 40 km and 20 km and one common start at 10:00. Splitting competition and recreation over two days gives recreational skiers their own day on the course, which suits people who want a long day out without lining up behind the elite.

Billingen is a plateau mountain right above Skövde, so the arena is easy to reach from town. Bibs are collected at the race office inside Billingecentrat, and energy stations with sports drink, water, cola, raisins and buns wait at the lap and at the finish.
