Tower Bridge to the Cutty Sark through four London boroughs
The Big Half is a London road half marathon from Tower Bridge to the Cutty Sark in Greenwich, held on Sunday 5 September 2027.
The Big Half was first held in 2018. It starts next to Tower Bridge and finishes by the Cutty Sark in Greenwich, and on the way it runs through the heart of four boroughs: Tower Hamlets, Southwark, Lewisham and Greenwich.
The 2027 race is on Sunday 5 September. The organiser describes the course as fast and flat road with 218 feet of elevation gain. Participants have four hours to complete the half marathon.
The New Balance Big Relay runs on the same 13.1 mile course on the same day. Teams of four each take one leg of around 5K, with changeover points along the route. The team captain must be at least 18 on event day and the other members 15 or over, and the organiser says the four legs make it perfect for teams of mixed abilities or anyone who is not able to run a full 13.1 miles. A Big Mile is also part of the programme.
The organiser describes each of the four boroughs as bursting with culture, spirit and support. Before race day, supporters can read the spectator guide and the road closure information on the organiser's site.
On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the Big Half.
