A week of ski races in the Izera Mountains

Bieg Piastów is Poland's festival of cross-country skiing, a week of races in the Izera Mountains above Szklarska Poręba.

The 51st Bieg Piastów runs from 13 to 21 February 2027, with every race based at Polana Jakuszycka. Rather than one race day, the festival spreads its distances over more than a week, so skiers can come for a single race or stay for several.

The main event is the 50 km in classic technique on Saturday 20 February, starting from 08:00 on a course through the Izera Mountains with about 730 m of height difference. The day before, Friday 19 February, has the 30 km in free technique, also from 08:00, and a 6 km classic. Sunday 21 February closes the festival with the 25 km classic.

The opening weekend is lighter. The family race Rodzinna 12 is on 13 February, children's races are on 13 and 14 February, and on 14 February there is a 15 km in both classic and free technique. The night race Nocna 12 follows on 15 February. The organiser calls Bieg Piastów one of the biggest cross-country ski races in the world.

The 50 km entry includes a finisher medal, a chip timed bib, free transport between Szklarska Poręba and Polana Jakuszycka before and after the race on race day, changing rooms, a bag deposit, feed stations on the course and a recovery meal at the finish.
