GENERALI BERLINER HALBMARATHON, live.

21.0975 km through central Berlin, finishing at the Brandenburg Gate

The GENERALI BERLINER HALBMARATHON is Berlin's big spring road race, a flat half marathon through the city centre that ends just behind the Brandenburg Gate.

The next edition is on Sunday 4 April 2027, organised by SCC EVENTS. The race traces its roots to the first Berlin Half Marathon, organised by SC Charlottenburg in 1984, and to the first joint race of 1 September 1990, when 4,999 people ran from Karl-Marx-Allee to Alexanderplatz. It has been held in spring since 1992 and is part of the SuperHalfs series since 2024.

The distance is the classic 21.0975 km. The start has a view of the Victory Column and the finish is at the Brandenburg Gate, on a course with a maximum elevation difference of 4.3 m. Start and finish have been on Straße des 17. Juni since 2019, the year 28,471 finishers set a record. The course records are 58:42 by Eric Kiptanui in 2018 and 65:02 by Sheila Kiprotich Chepkirui in 2022.

Running places are given out by lottery, and the time limit is 3:15 hours, which makes the race open to steady recreational runners as well as fast ones. The weekend also has inline skating, wheelchair and handbike races, races for kids and youth, and the Garmin BERLIN MILE on the Saturday, run on the last 1.609 km of the half marathon course.

The organiser speaks of over 40,000 participants from 135 nations at the latest edition, with around 40 bands and cheering points along the course. Spectators can follow the race by bike, U-Bahn, S-Bahn or on foot, for example from Ernst-Reuter-Platz to Potsdamer Platz, and free standing areas just before the finish are reached from the side of the Brandenburg Gate.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the GENERALI BERLINER HALBMARATHON.
