From Montana over Ulriken to Skansemyren
Bergen Fjellmaraton is a 21 km mountain half marathon across the city mountains of Bergen, organised by TIF Viking.
The 2027 edition is on 3 June. It is organised by Viking Turn og Idrettsforening, the same Bergen club that runs Bergen City Marathon, and it is known for selling out quickly, often in record time. Registration for 2027 opens on 1 December 2026 at 12:00.
The course starts at Montana and much of the climbing comes in the first 3 km, straight up to Ulriken. From there the route crosses the small summits of Vidden to Vareggen, where the Vikinghytten marks halfway and has a drink station. It continues toward Rundemanen, passes east of Store Tindevann and comes down Blåmansveien before the lit trail past the upper Fløybanen station leads to the finish at Skansemyren.
This is a point to point race from Montana to Skansemyren, with most of the climbing done early and gently rolling ground over Vidden after that. The weather on the mountain can change fast, even in June, so pack for it.
The organiser puts much of the race's popularity down to the atmosphere in the finish area at Skansemyren. Freshly grilled burgers wait for 3,000 runners, live music plays from the stage by the finish line, the results roll on a big screen and every finisher receives a medal.
On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from Bergen Fjellmaraton.
