Beacons Way Ultra, live.

Beacons Way Ultra on Saturday 24 July 2027: 100 miles from Abergavenny Castle or 100 km from near Talybont across Bannau Brycheiniog.

Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) · July 24, 2027

The Beacons Way in 100 miles or 100 km

The Beacons Way Ultra crosses Bannau Brycheiniog, the Brecon Beacons National Park, on the Beacons Way national trail over 100 miles or 100 km.

Both races are on Saturday 24 July 2027, organised by GB Ultras. The 100 mile race starts at 06:00 from Abergavenny Castle with 6,143 m of ascent, 10 checkpoints and a 40 hour cut-off. The 100 km race starts at 12:00 near Talybont with 3,178 m of ascent, 6 checkpoints and a 24 hour cut-off. Each has 250 places.

The 100 mile route runs through the Black Mountains, taking in the Skirrid, the Holy Mountain and the ruins of Llanthony Abbey, then crosses the Central Fans including Pen-y-Fan (886 m), the highest mountain in South Wales, and goes on to the wild Carmarthen Fans. The 100 km takes in Pen-y-Fan and the Carmarthen Fans.

Both are self navigation events, so map and compass skills, ultra experience and experience of mountain terrain are essential, and entrants must meet the qualifying criteria. The GPX files on the organiser's page are guides only, with a low level route for severe weather. Finishers earn UTMB Performance Index and ITRA points, and the 100 km is a Western States 2028 qualifying race for those who finish within 24 hours.

Optional transport back to the start is available after the race. Medals and buckles come in gold, silver and bronze by finishing position, and GB Ultras runs its own live GPS tracking through GB Race Tracker.

If a participant chooses to share the position of the phone they carry, you can follow them live on Livebib. The dot on the map comes from their own phone, not from the organiser's timing, and the official results are the organiser's.
