Banff Half Marathon, live.

A half marathon inside Banff National Park

The Banff Half Marathon and 10K take place on Sunday 20 June 2027 in Banff, Alberta, in Canada's first national park.

The Banff Half is a road race weekend in the mountain town of Banff. It is organised by Banff Half Inc. with support from Banff National Park, the Town of Banff and Banff and Lake Louise Tourism. The half marathon is already sold out for 2027, and the organiser says the 10K is filling fast.

Both races start on Bow Avenue at Caribou Street beside the Bow River. Runners follow the Bow River Trail, turn onto Norquay Road and then Vermilion Lakes Road. The half marathon continues on the Legacy Trail to the Bow Valley Parkway, runs about 3 km up the Parkway to a turnaround and returns to finish in downtown Banff. The 10K turns around on Vermilion Lakes Road, about 4 km along the lakes, and comes back the same way.

The 2027 schedule is not yet published. In 2026 the races started at 9:00 am on Sunday in waves 60 seconds apart, with runners self seeding by projected finish time. The weekend also has an expo, a shake out run, yoga in the park and a free kids run.

Spectators are not allowed on Vermilion Lakes Road, the Legacy Trail or the Bow Valley Parkway during the race, because those sections are narrow and environmentally sensitive. The best places to cheer are in town near the start and finish.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and official results come from the Banff Half.
