Across Lake Balaton from Révfülöp to Balatonboglár

The Lidl Balaton-átúszás is Hungary's largest open-water swimming event, a 5.2 km crossing of Lake Balaton from Révfülöp on the north shore to Balatonboglár on the south.

The 45th edition is planned for Saturday 17 July 2027. It is organised by Aranyhíd Balatonátúszó Sport Kft. and is aimed at amateur and recreational swimmers, with an average crossing time of about three hours. In 2026 the event counted more than 11,000 entries from 60 countries, and its 250,000th finisher crossed the line.

There are three ways to take part. The classic 5.2 km swim starts at Révfülöp and finishes at Balatonboglár. The half distance of 2.6 km starts at Balatonboglár, turns at a buoy 1,300 m out and returns to the same finish, swimming alongside the full distance field. The YETTEL Balaton-áthúzás lets stand-up paddlers cross the same 5.2 km in their own corridor, fully separated from the swimmers.

The swim depends on the weather. The organisers decide together with the national weather service and the water police whether the crossing can go ahead, and announce reserve dates if it has to be postponed. Entries stay valid for every postponed date. Hundreds of boats line the route, and finishers receive a medal and a cotton shirt.

The organiser maps event areas on both shores, at the start in Révfülöp and the finish in Balatonboglár, and the entry includes one boat transfer between the two. Entry is online through the organiser's registration site, with a field limit for each distance.
