Baden-Marathon Karlsruhe, live.

From the Europahalle to Durlach, the Schloss and the stadium

The Baden-Marathon returns to Karlsruhe on Sunday 19 September 2027, with a marathon and a half marathon starting by the Europahalle and finishing in the Carl-Kaufmann-Stadion.

The organiser, Marathon Karlsruhe e. V., has set the date, and start times for 2027 will follow. In 2026 the first wave left at 09:00 from the Hermann-Veit-Straße, with blocks assigned by expected finish time. The courses are measured to German athletics federation rules, closed to traffic and valid for ranking lists.

On the most recent course both races head from the Europahalle into the city, along the Kriegsstraße and the Ostring to Durlach, once the residence town of the margraviate, and back through the Oststadt and the Citypark Ost. After the Kaiserstraße they reach the Karlsruher Schloss, cross the Marktplatz and run via Beiertheim and the Günther-Klotz-Anlage. Half marathon runners then head for the finish, while marathon runners turn off near the Europabad onto a second loop through Bulach, Weiherfeld, Rüppurr and the Oberwald, rejoining the first half shortly before kilometre 33.

A useful detail for first timers: until the marathon split at kilometre 20.5 you can still decide to finish as a half marathon runner without changing your entry. Karlsruhe also has its own idea, the Marathonengel. Participants expecting more than 3:45 hours in the marathon can book up to three companions to run the last 4 km with them.

Aid stations stand every 2.5 to 5 km, and pacers run in both races. The finish area in the stadium, called the Runners Heaven by the organiser, is where spectators see everyone come home, and the city centre near the Schloss and the Marktplatz is passed by both races.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the organiser.
