Forty editions of fast, hard racing

The Austria Triathlon is a weekend of racing in Podersdorf am See in Burgenland, close to Vienna, held from 3 to 5 September 2027 for the 40th time.

The first race in 1988 had 39 athletes on the start line. In 2026 there were around 2,800 from more than 40 nations, and for the anniversary the organisers aim to pass 3,000 starters for the first time. Their motto is fast, hard and legendary, and the bike course is completely closed to traffic, with two transition zones.

Saturday 4 September is long distance day. The full distance is 3.8 km of swimming, 180 km on the bike and 42 km of running, and the half distance is 1.9 km, 88 km and 21 km. Both can also be raced as an aquabike without the run.

Sunday 5 September has the Olympic distance of 1.5 km, 40 km and 10 km and a sprint of 750 m, 24.4 km and 5 km. The weekend opens on Friday 3 September with kids' aquathlons and an age group aquathlon of 750 m swimming and 5 km running. Swims start in waves at the St. Martins Therme and Lodge.

The finish arena brings the stage, expo and food together, and prize giving takes place on the main stage. There is a Kaiserschmarrn party on Friday for the Saturday starters, and the race is covered on ORF Sport+ and YouTube.
