Auroville Marathon, live.

Run for the joy of running through the City of Dawn

The 17th Auroville Marathon takes place on Sunday 14 February 2027, with bib collection the day before.

The 17th Auroville Marathon is on Sunday 14 February 2027, and bibs are collected on Saturday 13 February. Registration opens on 14 November 2026. The courses run through Auroville, the international township in Tamil Nadu that calls itself the City of Dawn.

There are three distances: the marathon of 42.195 km, the half marathon of 21.0975 km and a 10K. Minimum ages are 18 for the marathon and the half and 16 for the 10K. Registration is online only, and the organiser publishes the route map on its site two weeks before the event.

The event has been organised by Auroville Runners with the Auroville community since 2008, when it was started to celebrate 40 years of Auroville. It is non commercial and held purely for the joy of running. All finishers are treated as winners, there is no prize money and the run is not timed, so it suits people who want a marathon without the pressure of the clock.

At the last edition there were 10 water and medical stations at roughly 1.8 km intervals, with fruit and biscuits on the route and a baggage counter. Finishers receive a surprise on the day and an e certificate two days later. People from the listed villages of the bioregion and Aurovilians can write to the organisers for a discount.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the organiser.
