Paraguay's official marathon

The Maratón Internacional de Asunción, known as MIA, is a road marathon and half marathon on the Costanera of Asunción, the capital of Paraguay.

The 2027 edition is on Sunday 29 August and is organised by the Paraguay Marathon Club. The organiser calls it the only official marathon in Paraguay, with 18 years of history. It is an AIMS race and part of the Mega Finisher series.

Both distances start at 05:30 from the Costanera de Asunción. The marathon covers two laps of the course and the half marathon one lap, so the two races share the same roads and the same start and finish.

A lap course is helpful for people running their first marathon, since the second lap holds no surprises. The half marathon suits those who want a fast morning and a race they can finish before the city wakes up.

The lap format is good for supporters, who see participants twice in the marathon without moving far. The Costanera is the place to be, both at the start and to welcome participants home.
