Aros Marathon, live.

Along the old railway from Uppsala to Enköping

Aros Marathon is a free race along the old railway embankment from Uppsala to Enköping in Uppland, Sweden.

Aros Marathon is a point to point race from Uppsala to Enköping on Saturday 1 May 2027. The organiser sums it up as a little longer and a little more fun, and the aim has always been a race that participants do not have to pay for. A collection bowl stands at the start and finish for anyone who wants to contribute. Alongside the running classes there is also a 50 km mountain bike class on the same route.

Most of the course follows the old railway embankment, on a mostly dry and even gravel surface. The line opened on 14 May 1912 and closed in 1979, and Aros Marathon brought it back into use as a race route in 2010. The organiser describes the day as a cultural and geographic journey through the Uppland landscape. The route is well marked, and the organiser's course page gives 446 m of climbing and 480 m of descent.

The 50 km run starts by the castle in Uppsala at 10:00, after the mountain bikes leave at 09:45. HalvAros covers 25 km from central Örsundsbro, starting at 12:00. Both finish on the square in central Enköping. People entering the 50 km run must be 17 or older. Bibs are handed out at the start and timing is manual.

For those who come to watch, the start by the castle in Uppsala and the finish on the square in Enköping are the natural places to be. There are two water stations between Uppsala and Örsundsbro and two more between Örsundsbro and Enköping, staffed by friends of the race. A participant can choose to share their own live position on Livebib from their phone, so family and friends can follow from home. This is not the organiser's timing, and official results come from the organiser.
