Åre Extreme Challenge
The classic course covers about sixty-nine kilometres in three disciplines: a paddle leg to open the day, a mountain run of roughly fifteen kilometres up and over Åreskutan with a thousand metres of climbing, and a mountain bike leg of over thirty kilometres on rocky singletrack and forest road back into Åre torg. The middle leg is the one that decides it — the summit of Åreskutan is above the tree line and the weather there in June is not the weather at the beach.
Everything funnels through two transitions in the middle of the village, which is what makes this a genuinely watchable multisport race. This page belongs to the 2026 edition. On Livebib, family and friends follow the athlete across all three legs on one map, with the transitions marked and an arrival estimate for the square in Åre that updates as the day goes on.
