A first triathlon on closed roads by Tangkrogen

Aarhus Bay Triathlon is a short, open triathlon at Tangkrogen in Aarhus on 26 June 2027, built so that anyone can take part whatever their age, level or experience.

The race was revived in 2022 by Aarhus 1900 Triathlon and has since become a fixed tradition at Tangkrogen, where children, beginners, youth athletes and elite meet. In 2027 the club also hosts the Nordic Championships and the Danish championship in super sprint, run with Triatlon Danmark, as well as a youth race for ages 14 to 17.

The main race is the 4-18-4. The swim is a 400 m loop at Tangkrogen with a beach start in waves, lifeguards on the water and, for most people, water shallow enough to stand in. From the water it is 300 m to transition. The bike course is three laps of 6 km, all closed to traffic, and any bike in good condition is welcome, from a city bike to a time trial machine, as long as you wear a helmet. The run is on gravel and asphalt in laps of 1.25 km with a water station on every lap. The race is non-drafting.

This is a race for first-timers as much as for regulars. Wetsuits are allowed and recommended if the water is under 20 degrees, and walking a bit on the run is fine. Children race 200 m, 6 km and 1 km, and parents may help them on every leg.

The short laps mean spectators see athletes many times, and the finish area offers a medal, fruit and water to every finisher.
