Two laps round the village of Ojakkala

A village run where you can enter on the spot fifteen minutes before the start, and the whole field fits in the schoolyard.

Visahölkkä is run every year on the first Sunday of October in Ojakkala, in the municipality of Vihti in southern Finland; in 2026 that was Sunday 4 October 2026. Start and finish are at Ojakkala school, Nummitie 21, and the start is at 13:00. Entries are taken on site until 12:45, or in advance by email. The organiser is the local club Ojakkalan Visa, the first Visahölkkä was run in autumn 2007, and the field has settled at 30 to 50 runners.

The adult distance is 8.6 km, two laps through the Ojakkala countryside, with an open class and classes for over-40s, over-50s and over-60s. A fitness class runs 4.6 km, as do girls and boys aged 16 and 14, and there is a 2.7 km loop for 12- and 10-year-olds. The course is marked with white paint and tape, with marshals and traffic control along the way. The top three in each competitive class get prizes, and the fastest woman and man in the fitness class. The run is part of Vihti’s Hölkkäkunkku series.

On two laps the runner comes back past the school at halfway, and in between supporters wait by the road. The runner can share a link to their own Livebib broadcast: family open it in a browser with no account and no app, and see the position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate. Anything estimated is marked as estimated, and the runner decides who gets the link.
