Vienna City Marathon, live.

From the Reichsbrücke across Vienna, past the Ring and Schönbrunn

The Vienna City Marathon is Austria's big spring road race, a weekend of distances from children's runs to the full marathon on a course that crosses the whole city.

The 2027 Vienna City Marathon is on Sunday 18 April 2027. Race Sunday has four road races. The marathon covers 42.195 km, the Wiener Städtische Halbmarathon is the half, the Powerade Staffelmarathon splits the marathon into a relay, and the Tchibo Coffee Run 10K is the short option. Around them the organiser runs the Vienna 5K once around the Ringstraße, The Daily Mile 1600 and 800 for children and youth, the Prinzessinnen- und Prinzenlauf for ages 3 to 6, and the Coca-Cola Inclusion Run.

The long races start on Wagramer Straße at the Reichsbrücke, on the far side of the Danube. The course runs through the Prater, around the Ring that circles the old town and out to Schönbrunn, with aid stations at places such as Stubenring, Linke Wienzeile, Obere Donaustraße and the Prater Hauptallee. Marathon and half marathon share the road until km 20.3, where the half marathon turns right onto Bellariastraße under a red arch and the marathon continues straight under a blue one. A half marathon entry cannot be switched to the full distance on the day.

The organiser describes a varied city course on which you can run fast times, and the difference between its lowest and highest point is only 44 metres. Relay teams change at three exchange points, Linke Wienzeile at Schönbrunn, Roßauer Lände on the Donaukanal and Meiereistraße by the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, each easy to reach by underground.

For spectators, the organiser lists the underground stop for each exchange: U4 to Schönbrunn for the first, U4 to Friedensbrücke for the second and U2 to Stadion, about five minutes on foot, for the third.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the Vienna City Marathon.
