Forty-two kilometres of continuous open-water swimming — a full traverse of Lake Vidöstern and a return — which puts it beyond anything else on the Swedish calendar and into the territory where the limiting factor is cold and nutrition rather than speed. Each swimmer is escorted by their own kayak for the whole distance, feeding them at intervals and holding the line down a lake where the far shore is not always visible.
