A full lap of Lake Vättern
The world’s largest recreational cycling event circles 315 kilometres around Lake Vättern through night, dawn and early summer sunshine.
Vätternrundan is a legendary cycling pilgrimage that challenges over twenty thousand riders to complete a full 315-kilometre lap of Lake Vättern. Starting in Motala, riders roll out in waves through the twilight and night hours, tracing the eastern shoreline past the imposing shadows of Mount Omberg toward Jönköping. As midsummer dawn breaks over the water, the route heads north along the undulating western shores, through the warm hospitality of the famous lasagna depot in Hjo and past the fortress town of Karlsborg.
The final 100 kilometres test endurance across the windy bridges of Hammarsundet and through the rolling countryside of Medevi before finishing along the harbor in Motala. On Livebib, families, cycling pelotons and supporters can track every kilometer in real time: live GPS position around the lake, depot split times, rolling speed metrics, and dynamic finish arrival forecasts.
