SaintéSprint

SaintéSprint

The organiser calls SaintéSprint a “semi nocturne”, a night half-marathon for getting a taste of the SaintéLyon, and has run it since 2013. It draws around 2,900 runners. The start is in Soucieu-en-Jarrest, where the main race has its km 60 aid station, and the course follows the same closing stretch into Lyon.

There is a single aid station, in Chaponost at km 11. The course closes at 16:00. Climbing and the GPX track are not yet published. The distance suits road half-marathoners who want to try trail by headlamp without planning for a whole night. Note that the page’s address says “14km”, while the distance is given as 24 km.

It is an evening when family often wait at the finish while the runner is out in the dark. With her Livebib link they see where on the line she is, how far she has come and an estimated finish that keeps updating. If the phone loses signal between villages, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated, never as measured.
