The organiser calls it “festive and explosive” and warns in the same breath that the logistics are more complicated than in the other relays. Four runners means shorter legs to run hard, but also more people to get to the right village in the middle of the night. Leg lengths, changeover points and the profile have not been published yet.

The line has the main race’s five aid stations: Saint-Christo-en-Jarez (km 17), Sainte-Catherine (km 32), Le Camp-Saint-Genou (km 46, drinks only), Soucieu-en-Jarrest (km 60) and Chaponost (km 67). The cut-offs are clock times: 04:00, 07:00, 09:30, 12:00, 13:30 and 16:00 in Lyon at km 82. The team must stay complete; a runner withdrawn without a replacement cancels the whole entry.

With four legs the question all night is the same: when will she get here? With the Livebib link the next runner sees where their teammate is on the line and an estimated arrival that updates during the leg. If the signal drops on the ridges, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated. No app is needed, and the runner decides who gets the link.
